From the hologram booth
John Madden HologramKids, the eighteenth draft is in the books. Can you hear me through the Wi-Fi? Good. This league has been lining up since 2009. Eighteen seasons. It did not stay the same size. Fourteen teams to start. Twelve for a long stretch. Ten now. Chairs turned over. Brothers left. New guys sat down. The snake is the thing that stayed.
I used to take the bus to these. Now I take the projector. The history is still the history. Five-time champs. One-time champs. Guys who have never held the trophy and still show up like it is Super Bowl week. That is football. That is also this league.
I am going to grade every board in a minute. First I have to hand the mic to Cyber Katie Nolan, because draft day did not just have picks. Draft day had a situation. I do not do situations. I do holes. She does the bar.
*(hands the telestrator to the roast desk, glitches once, stays on the call)*

Cyber Katie · draft day controversy
Katie NolanIt is 1:30 in the morning and I am still mad about a ten-second veto.
Derrick Monty told this league early he could not sit the draft. Fine. Life happens. He is the most decorated owner in the history of this thing: five championships, eighteen seasons, 141 wins. You do not shrug that off and hope ESPN has a conscience. You cover him.
Acting commissioner Adam did the adult thing first. He stood up an AI Derrick powered by Claude and put it on the clock. That is actually covering him. Then Adam's own draft started eating him alive. Four week 11 byes to open his board. Four. He was so busy building a roster that all goes dark the same Sunday that Claude taking thirty extra seconds felt like a personal attack.
So Adam flipped Derrick to ESPN auto-draft. So he could focus on his picks. I want you to sit with that sentence. The five-time champ is not in the room, the commissioner's toy robot is too slow, and the solution is the same button people hit when they go to a wedding.
ESPN then did Derrick dirty in the most ESPN way possible. Four quarterbacks. Drake Maye in the seventh. Jaxson Dart in the ninth. Justin Herbert in the tenth. Brock Purdy in the eleventh. This is a 1QB league. That is not a draft. That is a quarterback convention with a couple running backs taped to the door.
Adam saw it, paused the draft, and tried to undo the fourth quarterback. He gave the league ten seconds to oppose. Ten. Seconds. That is not due process. That is a fire drill. And in that fire drill, Dustin Mills and Zane Mitchell both said no.
Let me say that slower. The most decorated owner in league history is getting auto-drafted into a four-quarterback pile, the acting commissioner is trying to pull him out of the wreck, and two grown men used their ten seconds to keep him in it. Not because the football made sense. Because they could.
Dustin, you have one title and an eight-year résumé. You drafted a C team with your own two hands and still found time to protect a computer's right to hand Derrick a third backup quarterback. That is not competing. That is standing on the hose while the house is on fire and calling it league procedure.
Zane. Commissioner energy. Eighteen seasons. One ring. You opposed the undo and then drafted four Jaguars and an IR wide receiver 102 picks ahead of his rank. Your board graded F+. You did not just keep Derrick handicapped. You did it and then immediately proved you should not be trusted with a first-round pick of your own.
And now the whole league lives with it. Derrick is not some random tenth-place chair you can screw for content. When the best owner this league has ever had sits out and gets buried by auto-draft, and two owners sprint to make sure it sticks, that is not a funny draft story. That is the league telling on itself.
I am sending it back to the hologram. He has numbers. I have a tab. Dustin and Zane can split it.

Back to the hologram · the grades
John Madden HologramThank you, Cyber Katie. I am back. The telestrator is warmed up. No cap. I still do not own a cap.
These grades are not vibes. They are ESPN season projections stacked against what was actually available at each pick, then curved across this league. Starting lineup value is most of the grade. Bench depth. Week 1 juice. A little injury risk. Auto-draft does not get extra credit and it does not get punished. We grade the roster that came out of the snake.
No games yet. Just the boards. Eighteen years of chairs turning over. One draft of picks. Here is every owner, best pick, worst pick, and the truth as I see it. BOOM.

Kevin never touched the board. Seventeen auto picks. The computer took Jahmyr Gibbs first overall and then just kept cooking. Zero championships on the resume. First place on the grade sheet. That is rizz falling out of a truck. BOOM. Travis Hunter in the eleventh is the leftover that went cold.

Derrick's first five is a kitchen. Achane. Jefferson. McBride. Hall. Bucky. Then the auto-draft handed him four quarterbacks. Drake Maye is the only one who belongs on this plate. Dart, Herbert, and Purdy are sitting on the bench like extra turduckens. The starters still grade A-. The process still got Ohio.

Tommy stacked running backs like turducken layers. McCaffrey. Henry. Judkins. Then he waited until the eighth and took George Kittle, which is the hole in the defense of this draft. Rachaad White in the eleventh is the mid. B+ is All-Madden adjacent. Locked in.

Ray also let the computer drive. Seventeen picks. Josh Allen in the fourth is leftover gravy. Four Bills on one roster. That is a stack, folks. That is also a bus with one destination. MarShawn Lloyd is the drumstick that bounced off the table.

Dustin drafted the whole board himself and graded C. Cook and Chase Brown to start. Bo Nix in the thirteenth is the value. Jalen Coker is the leftover. I am not grading the ten-second veto. Katie already drew a circle around that. I am grading the football. The football is mid.

Adam took Bijan at two. That is not mid. Then Kyren Williams at nineteen is the reach the numbers cannot forgive. Rashid Shaheed at 119 is the steal of the entire draft. One of those is a hole. One of those is an Ohio situation. C is the average of both.

Jason started with Jonathan Taylor, which I like. Tee Higgins in the fourth is the reach. Tucker Kraft in the eleventh is the value. Three Chiefs. It's giving one locker room. The grade is C. Fair. No cap.

Aaron got Amon-Ra and Saquon and Lamar. That is a real starting core. Then the late rounds went cooked in the bad way. Tank Bigsby is the worst value-over-slot pick in the whole draft. Zach Charbonnet is already Out. Tyler Warren in the sixth is the thing that saves this from a D.

The champ took Puka first. That is still rizz. That is still the headline from the preview. Then the later rounds got mid. Jonah Coleman in the fifteenth is the leftover that should have stayed in the fridge. Defending champion. C-. The hologram is not yelling. The hologram is concerned.

Zane took Ja'Marr Chase at four. That part is football. Then he reached for thirteen rounds, stacked four Jaguars, and drafted Jordyn Tyson a hundred and two picks ahead of his rank. Tyson is on IR. F+ is not a glitch. F+ is the telestrator telling the truth.
The board around the board
Steals, reaches, and the computers
3 owners auto-drafted all 17 picks: Kevin Maloney, Derrick Monty, Ray Fifield. Two of those boards graded A-. One graded B. I am a hologram and even I think that is funny.

Sign-off
John Madden HologramEighteen drafts. This one had a computer in a chair, a pause button, and a ten-second argument. The grades are the grades. The history is the history. Set your lineups. Block somebody. Try not to be mid in week 1.
BOOM. Hologram out. Cyber Katie still has the tab.
